 If stock investing is your preference I suggest you ask your broker to list all the major tech stocks ( Dell & Intel and the like). Have him compare price to earnings, price to book value. Then have him look at cash on hand for these companies. The value of these stocks verses ten years ago is incredible. Most of the major tech companies have the cash to take advantage of the recovery when the time is right and to continue paying dividends.

Stock Investment Update

115% Gain in less then two months.

The stock market has continued its up trend, my original $18,500 stock portfolio now has a balance of $38,785 after I took out a grand to but a new desk for my office. That is a 115% return in 50 days.

I am now using Vectorvest stock search tool. I liked their on line training courses as my experience dealing with stocks is limited. I also use Forbes magazine to find stock suggestions and two other newsletters mentioned previously, only less so, now that I have the Vectorvest service.

54% gain in one month!

Stock purchases update: I sold my ford stock on 3-18-09 to raise the cash to pay my IRS bill. After paying that sizable bill I had $18,600 left over in my brokerage account, on 3-25-09 I re-purchased various stocks with that money. Today 4-23-09 my brokerage account balance is $28,174.

 Wow you say, I want to do that, a 54% gain in one month.

2009 investment focus

I have decided to narrow my investment focus for 2009 because there are just to many opportunities out there and I am having trouble focusing. Because I am sixty years young and want faster returns then I would seek if I was 40 again, I have set my goals for one year and five years.

Stocks; look for a 20% return for 2009 buying stocks in companies with strong balance sheets and low P/E's

For example;

I do not normally invest in stocks, not that I am against stock investing, it is just that I feel more comfortable dealing in real estate and businesses. I am thinking about stocks again and may reopen my Charles Schwab account. OH! by the way, I owned Enron and Adelphia so careful what I say. We do not have anyone writing about stocks on here yet so you have me until we do.
