Why people fail to get rich.
The other day some one mentioned that I was not normal. I have alway thought of myself as a normal guy just like everyone else. I grew up in a big family, lived on the wrong side of the tracks, dropped out of high school, struggled with a career, establishing credit, and setting up family life early on. You know! Like everyone else in America.
So I asked “What makes me not normal?” the reply was, no mater what anyone says that is negative you find a positive spin. I do not think you are capable of thinking negatively. That makes you not normal. Is that a good thing in your opinion? Well all I can say is when I am feeling down I call you, I never ever failed to feel better after talking with you.
I asked other people who know me the same question, and for the most part they did not think that I was normal either. They had a host of reasons, and some were not germane to making money, so I omitted them, here is the boiled down version.
The replys I got to that question where:
You do not think like other people do, If we ask you a question we get a thoughtful, intelgent, logical reply.
You do not talk like other people do, You are always positive, and polite, tactful, and respectful.
You do not react like other people do, No mater what we say or do you are calm and we can not predict what you will say.
You do not do what people think you would, instead you listen to people and you talk to people, not at people.
One reply was, you ask and awful lot of questions.
So that gets one to thinking. If people who are not rich, think that people who are rich are not normal, then what makes them (rich people) not normal. I think I have deduced what it is that makes them not normal, but more important to getting rich is what they are not. And that is, they are not their own worst enemy. Here is how I came to this conclusions.
I did a little research, I asked people who I know who are rich or who own businesses, if they thought they where normal. Funny thing, they all think they are normal folks. Then I asked some specific questions. For example:
Would you consider yourself to be an inquisitive person?
Would you consider yourself to be an ambitious person?
Would you consider yourself to be an aggressive person?
Would you consider yourself to be an honest person?
Would you consider yourself to be an analytical person?
Would you consider yourself to be a dependable person?
Would you consider yourself to be a fair person?
Would you consider yourself to be a disciplined person?
Would you consider yourself to be a presistent person?
Would you consider yourself to be a resourceful person?
Would you consider yourself to be a creative person?
Would you consider yourself to be a decisive person?
Would you consider yourself to be an enthusiastic person?
Would you consider yourself to be a diligent person?
Their answers for the most part where positive. Some had made allowances for week spots such as, being creative, if they where not they hired people who are, or they would say things like, well I am not so good there and have to work at that everyday.
Most folks are standing in their own way, they are their own road block, they are afraid of something, (usually failure), they blame others, they make excuses and-or, they give up. Rich people, or those on their way to being well off, have self confidence, (some how they overcame that internal fear that plagues us all) they take educated risk and for the most part have positive outlooks on life. They are not their own worst enemy.
Make sure you are not bring your own worst enemy.
