My plans towards my wealth
I have been thinking for some time now how to change what I am doing to get out of the pay check to pay check existance that I, like most, find my everyday life in.
My first thought, like most folks, is that there is no extra income to start anything new or to change where I am at right now. My first error? is that first thought! So I decieded to write down what I really have in assets right now, in front of me.
That list looked something like this;
Money in bank, not much, in fact it is usually in the red at the end of the month looking towards what is needed the following month; ie living pay check to pay check.
Items not needed that can be sold with some value; NONE, I am a frugal person who doesn't buy toys.
Then because I believe one should always look at the positive to match all the negatives we so easly account for in our lives. I made a list of what have I done in my life time.
That list went like this;
I,as a woman, who has rebuilt my life 3 different times, starting at the bottom and working my way out from nothing to what I do have. This is my 3rd rebuilt that started in 1993.
I moved to a state were I knew no one with a barrowed $250.00 (from a Sister who I repayed before the end of 1993). I lived in a motel room until an apt was available to rent, and I got a job as a waitress the 2nd day of my arrival, Once my divorce (2nd one) was finiallized and I recieved my half of the home sale, I bought myself 40 acres with a old, 768 sq foot shop/garage on it. I being frugal (some call it a tight) decieded to turn that shop/garage into a house. I had fencing, and a good well, with running water, just needed to insulate the old garage and put in interior walls, a bath and kitchen. Sound easy? Hah! froze my rear off the first 2 yrs, building and living in said construction only prolongs one's agony! but it was do-able, and with the help of a venturiast boy friend, we did it! Is my home any bigger today? No, but neither is my mortgage. I am smiling at that crazy but good sence now.
So what do I have now besides a great husband number Three? I still own this 40 acres and it now has a small barn, and this spring it will have cross fenceing.
We have a road to a seperate fenced area that we are going to put to use as a storage yard. A locked and protected area for those people who need to store boats, or RV, that the city doesn't allow to be parked on the streets or in their driveways. This may only bring in $100-$200 a month, but it will be money coming in. I will update you once it is in play.
The other big expence is our groceries and with all this acreage that is silly, so I am going to raise a couple of steers for butcher, one for me, and one for sale (fatten up type of cattle ranching), and add sheep to breed for slaughter, and chickens for eggs and the stew pot, the excess will be sold, and I will have a working farm that is tax deductable, which will help me out and feed my self.
I do have to put in a loafing shed / chicken coop, yard that is totally fenced (buying material now for this spring project) and I figured the baby chicks will have time to grow before they need the whole fenced yard to roam in. Once the cross fencing and the loafing shed is up I will shop for the ewes and ram that I need and since I know nothing about sheep raising (other than I love lamb to eat) I will get the raising sheep book to read over this winter as the snow flies. none of these project are overly costly and all if not income coming in right away will certaintly lesson the amount going out to the grocery stores and add value to land that is going to be tax deductable by it being a working farm.
This is a simple way to gain more of your hard earned money into your pocket which I hope in turn will afford me the needed financing to build from there. At the least I will have food in my freezer that I know is safe, and not overly priced, and a tax deduction which I may really need in the near future, depending on the Presidentual out come. And most important to me, I know I am using all my assets to their fullest potential, and not just sitting on my assets, and doing nothing.
I will try and keep you updated on this project and any new ideas that will probably develope because of it. Until the next page, I wish you all Towards Wealth!

I am slightly surprize at how writting down my plans on this blog has help project me forward but it does seem to be working.
My Husband found a add in the paper for 6x8 Military Utility sheds $150.00 with out door and $250.00 with doors, course we are getting the ones with doors, only one availbale at this time but as soon as the owner gets the others empty he will call us so we can get a total of 4. One will be used for tool shed/ grain storage, the other 3 we will put in the RV storage area for customers to rent out for storing their items. this will add more revenue coming in. The nice thing about these sheds is that they are totally heavy metal and seal up nice, that elemenates the problem of mice getting into grain sacks and renters personal belongings. A little bit of paint and we will have some nice storage containers.
I did order My Sheep Ranching book yesterday, I am excited, and in talking with Vickie at the National Sheep Ranchers Assn. found out one can raise 7 head of sheep per acre. Course I do not plan on putting that many per acre. The cross fencing will allow me to rotate grazing and protect the land from over grazing. Now to decide on raising only slaughter sheep or add some wool sheep to the mix, Shearing every year may be additional income if it balance out against the extra work. Will have a better idea once I get that book in hand, It covers everything including marketing of sheep and wool.
Life seems more exciting when one makes a plan and life starts showing how it can be played out. Sure beats crying over not having enough. or fretting your self to an early grave. This is turning out to be a Great Month to be Thankfull!
