Profit & Loss Statements

By jeglasgow - Posted on 25 August 2008

P&LDo you run a business? Would you share your P&L statement with our readers?

When someone is trying to start a business estimating the cost of doing business and setting the prices, are some of the hardest, least accurate guessing games they play. Most new business people base the prices they charge and the overhead cost estimates on information derived from where they worked in the past, combined with what little actual information they can gather. The results of this type of cost projection is less then satisfactory to say the least.

What if you could look at profit and lost statements of actual operating businesses or better still businesses in the same business you are in. Or maybe just compare your operation to others to see how your cost and sales compare. I think it would be very helpful to make such a comparison and make all of us better business people.

I will start a new Article page where we will add the P&L statement of businesses as we get them. If you have one to share we would love to include yours. The year end profit and loss statement would be best, or any twelve month period. I will remove identifying names and address, listing only the state and business category. Any description you provide that you feel would put the business into perspective will be included. Just e-mail me your P&L to jglasgow@patiostore.com or print one out and fax it to Jim at 210-829-1482 with a cover note that says "For towards wealth P&L program use". Let uss help each other be better mangers. Because in helping others we all learn and grow.

I have added the first two P&Ls this week, an Internet retailer and a self storage facility. Go to articles then profit and loss statements.
