Think Rich
Rich Habits
It is not enough to want to be rich you have to have a burning desire to be rich. This is true because to make yourself rich you need to develop the personal habits and traits that will get you there, and that will require effort, and effort, especially consistent effort, starts with desire.
Do you think about getting rich every day? do you have a plan on how you want to get rich? are you learning about the method you plan to use? Are you working on your plan every day?
What habits do you need to cultivate? how do you get rich? So many questions, are you seeking answers everyday. If not, why not?
When I first started out I had no money, no education, a wife and a kid. I spent ten years learning what this web site is giving away free. During those ten years I learned a lot, mostly I developed the needed skills and habits that would make me rich. It was much harder in the 1960's and 70's, as information was scarcer and expensive to accumulate. Today, with the Internet I would have been in hog heaven and probably overwhelmed, as I am sure many of you are. This web site will help you step through the clutter and the information overload. The articles posted on this site will start answering some of your questions as you formulate your get rich plan.
May I suggest you start with the basics. Everyone wants to be rich and most are not talking about it. You need to start talking about it so everyone knows, how else can they help. I told everyone I knew or met I wanted to be rich and I was going to get that way from real estate and buying and selling stuff. Most people ignored me or tried to. But some tried to help in different ways. I received lots of advice and a few deals, but mostly I kept thinking about getting rich and getting prodded into action when the people asked how I was doing at getting rich.
Early on I taped signs to my bathroom mirror that read "Think Rich" "Dress for success", "Act Rich" and "What did you learn today" the goal was to stay focused. I was developing the habit of consistent thinking and staying focused. I still wear a tie most days, just a reminder that life is more enjoyable with money in the bank.
I learned that rich people get that way because they have multiple sources of income. I learned that they use other peoples money to make money for them, borrowed funds, rent money and so forth. I learned they tended to focus on three or four areas of investing so they can become expert in them. I learned that if you have low funds you could invest time instead of money. It's my more theory: the more money you have to work with, the less of your time you need to invest, the less money you have to invest, the more time you will need to spend.
I remember one month my goal was to make an extra $300 for that month to add to the investment account so I would have a down payment on a rent house. I went dumpster diving at construction sites for items to sell at the flea market. By spending my evenings diving and my weekends selling my scrounges, at the end of the year I had the $4,000 down payment on a small rent house. Thus was the modest start of a million dollar real estate partfolio.
At the end of each day I asked myself, "What did I do today towards reaching my goals?". I have been doing that for forty five years. I want you to do that same, ask the question, no one will make you do it, no one will be there to remind you, it's on you to do that one simple thing, to ask that one simple question, everyday. What did I do today?
The rich people in the world except responsibility for themselves and their actions, they plan their work and work their plan, they are knowledgeable in their field, they are prepared for opportunity, and act on that opportunity when it comes their way.
The rich get richer because they work at it.
